Xiaomi Mi smartwatch release date in August, VR headset launch on August 1

Within days after the launch of Redmi Pro and Mi Notebook Pro, Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Mi smartwatch. Moreover, the company is also planning to unveil the much-awaited Mi Note 2 and Mi 5s.

Even though the Mi smartwatch was teased a few days back, the actual launch date was scheduled for the month of August. A recently leaked render image showcased physical button on the right side, rounded layout with Mi logo on top.

We also spotted the black bar right over the display, which clearly resembles the Moto-like bar.

Touted to be equipped with an advanced pressure sensitive display, the Mi Note 2 will feature Snapdragon 821 processor, curved 2K panel display. You can expect two variants with 4GB and 6GB of RAM. As per the latest reports, the smartphone will be released in August.

According to recently released statements by Liwan Jiang, Co-Founder, Xiaomi the Mi Note 2 will be released alongside Mi 5s and Mi smartwatch. But he declined to provide an exact launch date. However, Huami CEO revealed that the smartwatch would be released towards the end of August.

According to industry analysts, Xiaomi will unlikely unveil any new devices until September first week. This is because Mi Note 2, tipped to be a competitor to iPhone 7 will be most likely released in September.

Meanwhile, Paul Jiutang, Industry analyst is optimistic of the upcoming launch and confirms that Mi Note 2 will be released in August. With up to 6GB RAM, the Mi Note 2 will be Samsung Galaxy Note 7 killer.

The Xiaomi Mi 5s will feature dual-camera setup including a glass-clad design. You can also expect integration of an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and advanced pressure sensitive display similar to that of Apple and Huawei.

In the meantime, Xiaomi is also working towards the release of a new VR headset as per a leaked teaser image.

Th teaser released confirms August 1 as the date of the launch and also mentions that something new is on the way. However, another teaser published on Weibo tags the words “energetic”, “enjoy life” and “best experience” along with the words VR.

On the specifications front, the Xiaomi VR headset will be a standalone headset with built-in display and sensors. The headset will be a major competitor to Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

According to reports, the Xiaomi VR headset will be manufactured to work in tandem with MIUI Android platform. Hence, you can even expect the company to bundle the headset with the forthcoming Mi Note 2.

On July 27, Xiaomi unveiled the much-awaited Redmi Pro and Mi NoteBook Pro including a new set of accessories like Mi LED Lamp and Mi Band 2.
