Huawei P9 smartphone is scheduled to launch in India on 17th August. The company has already started to send out press invites for the upcoming launch.
The Huawei P9 and the P9 Plus have been available in Europe and some countries of Asia from the month of May this year. The company is expected to launch the same model of the P9 smartphone in India. However, it is unknown if the P9 Plus will also land in India.
The Huawei P9 is the direct successor of the Huawei P8. The P9 comes with better design, more powerful hardware, and massive camera improvements over the P8. The latest smartphone has an aluminum unibody construction with a high-quality 2.5D glass.
Huawei P9 Specs
The P9 is powered by the octa-core HiSillicon Kirin 955 processor made by Huawei itself. It has four high-performing ARM Cortex A72 cores running at 2.5 GHz each. The rest four power saving cores are of ARM Cortex A53 type clocked at 1.8 GHz each. The graphics is handled by the quad-core Mali T880 MP4 GPU. The phone runs the Emotion UI on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The phone comes in two variants. One has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of inbuilt storage capacity. The other sports 4 GB of RAM with inbuilt storage of 64 GB. The handset also supports microSD card with capacity up to 256 GB.
The display of the P9 is a 5.2-inch IPS NEO LCD panel. It has Full HD 1080P resolution with a pixel density of 423 pixels per inch. The high contrast screen comes with 96 percent colour saturation. The screen covers 72.9 percent of the total front surface area of the smartphone.
The phone comes with dual 12 MP cameras. One of the camera sensors captures images in RGB spectrum. The other sensor captures monochromatic (black and white) images. The camera is powered by picture quality algorithm co-developed by Leica. This algorithm smartly combines images taken by both the cameras.
The resultant image matches out the quality of professional cameras. The phone can shoot 1080P videos up to 60 frames per second. Slow motion 720p videos can also be recorded at 120 frames per second. 4K video recording capability is missing, though. The front camera is an 8 MP shooter.
The Huawei P9 supports dual SIM with dual standby. Only nano SIMs are supported. The second SIM slot also functions as the microSD card slot. There are usual connectivity options like dual band WiFi, Bluetooth v4.2, Type-C USB, NFC, etc. A 3000mAH battery provides juice to the phone.
The price of the Huawei P9 is expected to start from around Rs. 45,000 for the 3 GB RAM/32 GB storage version. The 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variant will possibly be priced around Rs. 49,000. It is being speculated that the company may lower the prices.
