Huawei sending out invites for next smartphone launch on September 1

Chinese smartphone company Huawei is planning to announce new phones on the 1st of September. The company is planning to unveil a few models on the eve of IFA 2016, which is going to take place in Berlin from 2-7 September. The company has started sending out invites for the same.

Even though it is early to speculate about the upcoming phones, speculations indicate that the Chinese smartphone maker might unveil the Mate 9 phablet. Now, Mate 8 was released last November and it has not even been a year since the launch. But somehow, it feels that Huawei is thoroughly inspired by Samsung.

Samsung has a policy wherein the company diligently plans the launches of their phone models. The Korean tech-giant always makes it a point to launch the Galaxy Note models with that of the flagship Galaxy S series. Both the variants (even though they do belong to different segments) have kindred launch months. For instance, this year witnessed the launch of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, and now, Samsung is planning to launch Galaxy Note 7 in August. Interestingly, the Galaxy Note 6 is nowhere to be seen, and we are already waiting for the Note 7.

Huawei also seems to have adopted this strategy and to be honest, it would not be surprising because, in one way, this peculiar launch strategy does make sense. Sure, Huawei Mate 8 has top of the line specs but launching its successor this year (after a gap of around 7 months) is still a decent strategy because Huawei wants that their flagship phablet (upcoming Mate 9) should have undivided attention of the viewers as iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus launch is around the corner.

The launch date will ensure that Huawei Mate 9 will enjoy the spotlight for a couple of weeks which will be instrumental in determining the sales of the phablet.
