Huawei Honor 8 featuring Huawei P9-like specs officially unveiled

Huawei today officially unveiled the new Honor 8 in China, a top-end smartphone for the company’s affordable Honor brand. According to reports, the phone gets almost the same specs sheet as the current flagship the Huawei P9, though at just a little more than half the price of the P9 flagship.

Under the hood, the newly revealed Honor packs some beastly specs which include an octa-core Kirin 950 bundled with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of storage. It runs the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box with EMUI 4.1.

Huawei Honor 8 Specs: 12MP camera, 3GB RAM

Other key specs include a 5.2-inch full HD display, 8MP front camera with f/2.4 aperture and a 12MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, a 3,000 mAh battery that charges via USB-Type C fast charging. The 4G gets dual-SIM slots, out of which one doubles as a microSD slot. There’s also a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner as with most Honor devices. Thankfully, there’s a 3.5mm jack too which is becoming quite a rarity these days.

The phone’s body features glass on the front and the back of the device with an aluminum strip running along the sides. The colour of the frame matches the colour of the back that certainly adds to the overall demeanor. It will be available in Pearl White, Sunrise Gold, Midnight Black, Sakura Pink, and Sapphire Blue colour options.

It will be available in China starting July 19. The 3GB RAM variant has been priced at CNY 1,999 (approx Rs. 20,000) while the 4GB RAM model gets a price tag of CNY 2,499 (approx Rs. 20,000). Huawei is yet to confirm its plans to launch the device in India and other international markets.

Though given the fact that India is an important market for Huawei, we expect the smartphone hitting Indian shores in the near future. The Honor 8 already has our interested piqued with some pretty impressive hardware and an all-glass design.
