September is almost here, and it is the time when we get to see a new iPhone each year. This year, Apple is expected to focus more on hardware changes rather than cosmetic refreshment. The upcoming Apple iPhone 7 will sport an identical design language to the present iPhone 6S just with a few changes.
No 3.5 mm Jack and No Physical Home Button
One of the significant modification of the forthcoming smartphone will be the removal of the 3.5 mm headphone port. The audio output functionality will be shifted to the lightning port. Apple will bundle a brand new EarPod with a lightning connector instead of the 3.5 mm pin along with the iPhone 7 line-up. A brand new force touch-enabled home button is rumored to replace the conventional physical home button. The new button will use 3D touch technology and will provide haptic feedback.
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus Design
There would be minor changes in the looks of the iPhone 7 in comparison to the current generation iPhone. The antenna lines of the upcoming handset will shift its position to the top and bottom edges instead of running horizontally through the back of the device. The new iPhone will also be a little bit thinner than its previous version.
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus Display: 1080p and 2K
The iPhone 7 is expected to sport the same 4.7-inch display as its predecessor. The display is expected to feature upgraded picture quality but similar resolution. The large iPhone 7 Plus will get a little improved 5.5-inch display just like the current iPhone 6S Plus. The displays are expected to be protected by the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Apple A10 chipset with 3 GB RAM
A brand new A10 SoC designed by Apple is presumed to be housed inside the upcoming iPhone. The chipset will be manufactured by TSMC using its latest 16 nm FinFET process. The forthcoming smartphone is also speculated to get a RAM upgrade. The 2 GB RAM of the present iPhone 6S is expected to be increased to 3 GB in the iPhone 7 series.
iPhone 7 and 7 Plus Dual Camera
The iPhone 7 is rumored to feature an upgraded camera unit with the larger camera module. The larger iPhone 7 Plus or Pro version is expected to sport a dual camera set-up, with two camera lenses. This would provide a host of advanced capabilities like DSL-R like focusing capacity and significantly improved picture quality.
Increased Storage and Battery
This year, Apple is expected to scrap the 16 GB variant of the iPhone and instead make the 32 GB as the base storage. A new 256 GB iPhone 7 is also rumored to be in the works. The battery capacity is presumed to be increased from 1715mAh to 1960mAh. This results in an increase of 14 percent on the paper, but Apple may further fine tune the power consumption of the upcoming iPhone to result in even better power backup in real life scenarios.
iPhone 7 India launch in October
Apple is expected to announce the brand new iPhones on September 7 this year. In the US, the smartphones will reportedly be up for pre-order from September 9 and will be available a week later on September 16. The iPhone 7 is presumed to arrive in India about a month later, sometime in October.
