It’s finally here! A device so exciting that Samsung decided to give it a full number upgrade. Yes, we’re talking about the much-awaited Galaxy Note 7 phablet. We compare Apple’s largest offering with the newly launched Galaxy Note 7. Let’s see which one is a better package and offers more features.
Design
The new Note 7 takes design cues from other Galaxy phones and rather looks sleek and stylish for a phablet. Samsung has shaved a few millimeters off the width and also managed to reduce the weight, quite impressive for a 5.7-inch phablet.
The Galaxy Note 7 measures 153.5mm x 73.9mm x 7.9mm, while the iPhone 6S Plus measures 158.2mm x 77.9mm x 7.3mm. In terms of weight, the iPhone 6S Plus weighs 192 grams while the Galaxy Note 7 sits at 169g.
Display
The new Galaxy Note 7 gets a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED dual-edge curved screen which gives deeper blacks and enhanced color accuracy compared to the 5.5-inch full HD LED display of the iPhone 6S Plus.
Hardware
The Galaxy Note 7 features a Snapdragon 820 in the US and China, while its other international variants get the Samsung-made Exynos 8890 processor – both of them are high-end processors.
On the other hand, the iPhone 6S Plus features the A9 64-bit processor coupled with the M9 motion coprocessor. In terms of RAM, the new Galaxy Note 7 features 4GB of RAM while the iPhone 6S Plus gets 2GB of RAM.
The Galaxy Note 7 comes with 64GB of built-in storage expandable up to 256GB via microSD slot. While the iPhone 6S Plus is offered in three storage variants – 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB, and doesn’t offer the expandable storage option.
Battery
The Galaxy Note 7 gets juiced by a beefier 3,500 mAh battery compared to the 2750 mAh battery of the iPhone 6S Plus.
Hence, combined with an OLED display, the Galaxy Note 7 should offer more battery backup than the iPhone 6S Plus.
Camera
The Galaxy Note 7 features the same 12MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture, and OIS found on the Galaxy S7 flagship. While the iPhone 6S Plus gets a 12MP iSight camera with f/2.2 aperture.
When it comes to the selfie-cam, the Note 7 features a 5MP shooter with f/1.7 aperture, while the iPhone 6S Plus also comes with a 5MP sensor though with a smaller f/2.2 aperture.
Operating System and Features
For now, the Galaxy Note 7 runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow but is expected to get the Android Nougat upgrade soon. While the iPhone 6S Plus runs the latest iOS 9.
The Galaxy Note 7 comes with the S Pen stylus as an added input method, while the iPhone 6S Plus makes use of Apple’s new Force Touch technology. Both of them give users new and unique ways to interact with the phone.
Wrap Up
Both of these phones are excellent devices. Though in terms of specs, the Galaxy Note 7 has an edge over the iPhone 6S Plus. It has a more advanced AMOLED display, more RAM, the S Pen, and one of the best smartphone cameras around.
In day to day usage, both of them are excellent performers as they both feature top of the line specs. It entirely depends on what you prefer, like the operating system, design, and so on.
