Motorola Moto Z Play release date and specs: Smartphone spotted on TENAA

Moto Z has not been released by Motorola, yet. But the images of the device have been leaked. The model is supposed to be the cheapest of the Moto Z models.

In a previous leak, the images showed that unlike others in the lineup, the smartphone would feature a 3.5mm earphone jack. It has reportedly been certified by the Chinese TENAA regulatory agency.

Motorola Moto Z Play Specs

The XT1635-03 (Model no. of the Moto Z Play) could likely sport a 5.5-inch AMOLED display and is said to offer a 1080 x 1920 resolution. The device also packs a Snapdragon 625 chipset with an octa-core processor along with an Adreno 506 GPU. The 3GB of RAM is backed by 64GB of internal storage.

The backside of the device is adorned by 16MP camera, and the front holds a 5MP camera to handle selfies and video chats. The listed battery capacity is at 3300mAh and is 6.99mm thick. The handset is said to be offered in two colors: Black and White. TENAA posted four photos of the device.

The AnTuTu and Geekbench benchmark have made the test results of the Moto Z Play (XT1635) available.

Motorola Moto Z lineup Specs

As far as the other two phones in the Moto Z lineup are concerned, the specs of the Moto Z-Droid packs a similar 5.5-inches display with an AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors and 535ppi pixel density. It is built on the Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 chipset platform and has a Dual-core 2.15 GHz GPU. It is also based on the Android 6.0. Android Marshmallow.

As far as the memory is concerned, it has 4GB RAM and 32/64GB internal memory expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.

The Moto Z Force that is expected to be released in September, this year. It has an AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors. The display is 5.5 inches with 535ppi pixel density.

It packs the same processor and the same bit of RAM and memory specifications as the Z-Droid. The only notable difference is in the camera. This one has a 21MP, f/1.8, laser and phase detection autofocus, OIS, dual-LED (dual tone) flash at the rear and a 5MP one on the front.

There has been no official statement about the Moto Z Play by Lenovo, but it is expected to be released towards the end of this year. A lower budget model could increase the reach of the lineup. This could be highly beneficial in a market like India.
