After a week of the Russian launch, Asus has finally unveiled the new Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 and Asus Zenfone Max M2 smartphones in India, today at an event held in New Delhi.
Both the smartphones bring in an excellent price to performance ratio along with notched displays, dual rear cameras and large battery capacities.
Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 (ZB630KL)
The higher-end Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 is the successor to the previously launched Zenfone Max Pro M1 which was a great offering of its time. The device, instead of metal back on the latter, comes with a glass back that has a glossy finish to it.
As for the specs, the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 sports a 6.26-inch IPS display with a Full-HD+ resolution of 1080×2280 pixels. The display bears a 19:9 aspect ratio, thanks to the notch on top. Furthermore, it flaunts 2.5 curved Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection and 94 per cent NTSC colour gamut coverage while the brightness maxes out at 450 nits.
Under the hood, the handset gets powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with up to 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM. The device is available in 3/32GB, 4/64GB and 6/64GB RAM and storage configurations. Thankfully, the given dedicated slot for microSD card allows for further storage expansion up to 2TB.
In the Optics department, the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 gets a dual camera setup at the back. The composition features a 12-megapixel primary Sony IMX486 sensor, having a f/1.8 aperture, and 1.25-micron pixels. There’s also a 5-megapixel secondary camera for depth sensing. The rear cameras can record videos up to 4K resolution with EIS. On the front, we have a 13-megapixel sensor with a f/2.0 aperture, 1.12-micron pixels, and an LED flashlight.
On the software front, the device runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo and is expected to receive Pie update soon. Even though backed by a massive 5,000mAh battery, it weighs quite light at 175grams.
Lastly, the connectivity options on the Pro M2 include dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a Micro-USB port (Yes, no USB type-C). The phone also lacks any fast charging capabilities.

Asus ZenFone Max M2 (ZB632KL)
The Asus Zenfone Max M2, on the other hand, will succeed the Asus Zenfone Max M1– an entry-level budget offering by the company. Unlike the Pro version, this one comes with a metal design which looks more or less similar to the Zenfone Max Pro M1.
Coming to the specs, the Asus Zenfone Max M2 gets the same sized 6.26-inch display, but with a lower HD+ resolution of 720×1520 pixels. The screen also boasts a layer of 2.5D curved glass and a maximum brightness of 430 nits.
Under the hood, the device gets powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC, the one seen on recently launched Honor 8C. It is available in two variants including 3/32GB and 4/64GB RAM and storage options. It’s even okay to see the inclusion of a dedicated microSD card slot.
For photography, the Asus Zenfone Max M2 incorporates a 13-megapixel primary sensor (f/1.8 aperture, 1.12-micron pixels), clubbed with a 2-megapixel depth sensor at the rear. Whereas on the front, we have an 8-megapixel sensor with a f/2.0 aperture, 1.12um pixels, and a dedicated LED flash.
Just like its elder sibling, the handset runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo. Backing up all this is a sufficiently large 4,000mAh battery. Connectivity options on the phone include dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a Micro-USB port.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 & Max M2 Price in India
The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 price in India starts at Rs. 12,999 for the base model with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. While the higher 4/64GB and 6/64GB variants will retail for Rs. 14,999 and Rs. 16,999, respectively. It’ll be available in Blue and Titanium colour variants exclusively on Flipkart with the sales starting December 18.
Following the same, the Asus Zenfone Max M2 is kept at Rs. 9,999 for the base model with 3/32GB configuration, while the top-end 4/64GB variant goes is pitted at Rs.Rs. 11,999. It gets Blue and Black colour options to chose from and will be available only on Flipkart, starting from December 20.
