Xiaomi to launch its first smartphone exclusively on Flipkart1 scaled

Following the footsteps of Motorola, chinese manufacturing company Xiaomi has also decided to get into a partnership with Indian e-commerce major Flipkart, in order to launch its first smartphone in the Indian market. Xiaomi had recently unveiled its official website in India, promulgating the company’s entry in the emerging mobile and smartphone market of India.

Xiaomi is speculated to come up with two initial smartphones in partnership with e-commerce company Flipkart in the next couple of months. According to PTI, both the companies have already gone through the agreement and the smartphone launch will exclusively carried onto Flipkart’s website in the coming months.

However, we couldn’t retrieve comments from any of the parties, Flipkart and Xiaomi on this deal. Although, we have seen many handset manufacturers like Motorola and Alcatel partnering with Flipkart in the past to launch their devices exclusively on this leading web platform. While Motorola has launched its Moto G, Moto X and Moto E on Flipkart, Celkon had launched its Android KitKat-powered Campus A35K on Snapdeal.

Xiaomi has already sold over 17 million handsets in China. The company is familiar with products and devices like Mi 3, Mi Wi-Fi, and Mi Box, etc. Xiaomi had launched some of its products in Singapore in February this year. It would be an interesting thing to observe how other Chinese handset makers like Huawei, ZTE, Lenovo, Gionee, and Oppo will respond on this deal.

According to research firm IDC, smartphone sales in the country grew almost three-fold to over 44 million in 2013, buoyed by affordable devices made by local firms such as Micromax and Karbonn.
