WhatsApp users are making the most of the new voice calling feature rolled out for iOS and Android in April this year. Over 100 million voice calls are made using WhatsApp every single day. The statement came from the WhatsApp CEO and co-founder Jan Koum a few hours back.
The figures are impressive keeping in consideration that the feature released just a couple of months back. WhatsApp user base is 1 billion active users per month, which translates that around 10 percent of the users has started using its VoIP services and more than 1,100 calls are made per second.

Considering Skype has only 300 million monthly active users, WhatsApp has a clear win over its competitor that also offers voice calling feature.
VoIP calls have become increasingly popular these days especially among those who make international calls frequently. WhatsApp has gained traction among the plethora of apps because of its mobile-centric approach as well as ubiquity.
There are speculations that video calling on WhatsApp is on its way. The company has also started rolling out Beta It would be worth watching how the upcoming feature fares if the rumors turn out to be true.
