Samsung Galaxy S8 release date, specs, rumors: No 3.5mm jack, 512GB storage and more

Samsung Galaxy S8, the much-awaited flagship handset is expected to be launched alongside Galaxy S8 Edge in early 2017. Recently, Apple released iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus by ditching the traditional headphone port to accommodate the lightning port connector. There are rumors that Samsung is gearing up to bid farewell to the headphone jack.

According to sources, Samsung will remove the 3.5mm port in favor of a proprietary solution developed in-house by the company. It could place itself as an apt challenger to Apple Lightning Connector.

Samsung Galaxy S8 to replace headphone jack with USB Type-C port

Moreover, Samsung is not likely to migrate to wireless immediately. According to latest reports, the traditional audio jack will be replaced with a USB Type-C port. To recall, this technology has already been adopted by leading smartphone manufacturers such as HTC, LG, Sony, Huawei, Samsung, and LeEco.
