The latest processing chipset by Qualcomm has been announced. The new Snapdragon 821 chip is completely renewed and boasts of a 10% shoot in performance over its predecessor.

Qualcomm has not made any official statements regarding which smartphones are likely to get the newly announced chip. Instead, the company indicated that we would see the chip used in devices around the second half of 2016.

Just like with any new generation technology, the Snapdragon 821 chipset not only ups performance and hence essentially speed, but also lowers energy consumption while doing so. This simply means that the devices that come with the chip will ensure you have great processing power to handle demanding applications as well as that these apps and processes won’t chew on your battery as much.

Qualcomm has stressed that the Snapdragon 821 chips will essentially change smartphone experiences especially with the fact that the new chips will be able to seamlessly perform with newer consumer interests like Virtual Reality on mobile phones and gaming on tablets.

Among rumours that are catching up on the Internet are that Snapdragon 821 chips will feature in the smartphones releasing in upcoming months. This means enthusiasts can expect the new chip on the Nexus devices, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and the upcoming Asus Zenfone 3. None of these have been announced by manufacturers officially, so you should take them to be rumours until they’re publicly confirmed.

The company additionally announced its strategy for 5G networks across the US. The new standard will usher in speeds in the ‘Gbps’ count and will render ‘IoT’ devices smarter and more efficient. The announcement made at a Connectivity Event in China last month stated that they are testing the new standard which functions on frequencies slightly below a 6G standard, which should be super-fast indeed.
