A fresh Geekbench benchmark test of the Apple iPhone 7 Plus alongside TENAA data reveals the stunning fact that the iPhone 7 Plus will be the first handset to ship with 3GB of RAM. When Android manufacturers lay stress on the internal specifications of a new smartphone during the launch event, Apple focuses on the design and battery. If you glance through the official iPhone 7 product page, you will not find the amount of RAM on the new iPhone.
Technically, the A10 Fusion processor that is integrated into the new iPhone models has four cores. The first two cores perform normal work like web browsing and email to have battery life. The other two cores are high performance and are designed to run 40 percent faster than the A9. The iPhone 7 Plus scored 3233 and 5363 for the single and multi-core tests respectively.
Upon verification, the benchmark summary shows that only two processor cores are handling the load. However, both the iPhone and iPhone 7 Plus is equipped with four-core A10 Fusion processor.
iPhone 7 Plus with 3GB RAM will be the first
If the test results turn out to be true, then iPhone 7 Plus will be the first smartphone to ship with 3GB RAM. For the first time, Apple has integrated 3GB RAM in an iOS gadget. Previously, Apple infused 4GB in 12.9-inch iPad pro.
Speaking at the Apple keynote address, Phil Schiller said that Apple’s new A10 Fusion chipset is a four-core processor. However, the two advanced cores are capable of delivering 40% improved performance than the A9. Moreover, the new A10 processor is capable of longer battery life due to the two high-efficiency cores.
Even before the latest GeekBench revelation, there had been widespread rumors that the new 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus would see RAM upgrade to 3GB.
iPhone 7 Plus: 3GB RAM not a necessity
Actually speaking, 3GB RAM is not at all necessary for an iOS loaded phone because of the kind of optimizations used by Apple. A 2GB RAM iPhone 7 would do wonders because the overall resource consumption is lower on iOS than Android.
According to industry analysts, Apple has increased the RAM to compete with the Android devices which are released with 3GB RAM. Nowadays, the majority of premium smartphones is equipped with at least 3GB RAM. We feel that Apple has cracked the 3GB market very lately.
