HTC has announced its newest addition to its flagship and titled it ‘HTC 10.’ The new phone is an upgrade to HTC’s last year’s release of the M9, but doesn’t adopt the same name as the series. HTC has said that they have been working on the HTC 10 for a whole twelve months before its release, and have stressed on collaborative improvements based on their customers past feedback.

The new HTC 10 looks like a mix of HTC’s previous releases, the M9, and the A9. The phone looks rich with its body crafted out of aluminum while the housing atop front screen is made of Gorilla Glass that sports curved edges. The HTC 10 comes with an improved display, a quad HD Super LCD 5 display, that’s 5.2” and is 30% more vibrant than its predecessors.

Below the screen lies two capacitive buttons, for ‘back’ and ‘recent applications’ between which lies the ‘home’ button which is also a fingerprint sensor. HTC’s improvements to both the software and hardware of the new HTC 10 have ensured improved responsiveness and faster processing, even with the camera app, which most of HTC’s previous releases have failed to do.

The new phone comes equipped with one of the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipsets with two dual-core Kyro processing chips that clock speeds of 2.5GHz and 1.6GHz respectively. The graphics on the phone is powered by an Adreno 530 GPU kit, and the phone comes along with a 4GB RAM, a standard configuration to get the best out of Google’s latest operating platform, Marshmallow 6.1.

HTC does run their own skin ‘HTC Sense’ on top of the Google platform. The HTC 10 is available with 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 2TB with a micro-SD card. The back of the phone houses a 12MP camera with laser autofocus and improved low-light imaging; the same can be said for the 5MP front camera. The rear camera also comes along with a dual-tome LED flash and is capable of recording video in 4K resolutions along with Hi-Res audio too.

The headphone jack is capable of Hi-Res audio playback with a built-in amp that scales audio to 24-bit quality. HTC’s partner JBL provide Hi-Res certified, noise-cancellation headphones which come along with the smartphone package. The phone is set to become available for sale in the US markets sometime in May for a price of approximately Rs. 46,399 ($699) and then go on sale in markets around the World.

The HTC 10 will be available in the colours of Black and Silver in the US markets while Global markets will see a Gold edition too. Japan is said to see a 4th colour, Red, to be sold in the country.
