HP Envy x360 with AMD 7th-gen Bristol Ridge Mobile Processor announced

HP’s upcoming Envy x360 laptop is expected to ship with a new seventh-generation Bristol Ridge AMD Accelerated Processing Unit (APU), which offers 10% performance boost over Carrizo. Even though AMD has announced the processor details, it will not be available until Computex 2016, which is expected to be held between May 31 and June 1 in Taiwan.

Designed for the purpose of use in ultrathin laptops, convertible tablets-come-notebooks, and all-in-one desktops, the latest Bristol Ridge processor is touted to offer advanced video, high-end graphics, and security features including outstanding energy efficiency.

While HP Envy x360 will be the first laptop to integrate the new processor, the company is planning to introduce additional models later this year.

Commenting on the development, Jim Anderson, Senior Vice-president and General Manager at AMD disclosed that consumers demand sharper graphics, faster performance, longer battery life and the latest Bristol Ridge processor packs in all the new features in addition to additional performance enhancements.

Anderson, further, added that the company is in talks with other laptop manufacturers and consumers can expect powerful systems by the end of 2016.

To be available in both Quad and Dual-core configurations, the seventh-generation Bristol Ridge AMD processor is optimized for use in mobile devices. Moreover, by combining the internals with AMD’s Radeon R7 or R5 graphics chips, consumers can expect smooth online gaming and high definition streaming.

With the help of AMD’s Virtual Super Resolution feature, users will be able to experience an image quality of up to 4K in gaming even if the end-user systems consist of only Full-HD display. Moreover, the processor also comes equipped with AMD’s FreeSync technology, which eliminates frame stuttering and tearing in 3D games.

In addition to the above-mentioned features, the seventh-generation Bristol Ridge AMD processor also provide support for Graphics Core Next architecture, DirectX 12 and Vulkan APIs to handle modern graphics intensive applications.
