Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has finally launched the Redmi Note 4 smartphone in China. The latest addition to the Redmi Note series comes in two variants – one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage, along with a 3GB RAM variant with 64GB of inbuilt storage. Both variants are slated to go on sale in China starting August 26, via the company’s online store.
One of the significant changes to the new Redmi Note 4 is the addition of a USB-Type C port, making it the first smartphone in the company’s entire smartphone lineup to come with the new USB Type-C standard.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Specs: 5.5-inch Full HD display, 13MP camera
Key specifications of the newly launched Redmi Note 4 include a 5.5-inch Full HD 2.5D curved glass display with a pixel density of 401 ppi. The smartphone is powered by a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor bundled with Mali T880 MP4 GPU. In terms of storage, both 2GB and 3GB RAM variants will offer support for microSD expandable storage of up to 128GB.
The Redmi Note 4 comes pre-installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the company’s latest MIUI 8 atop. The device also comes equipped with a fingerprint scanner housed on the back right below the primary camera module.
Camera options on the smartphone include a 13MP rear snapper with PDAF (phase detection autofocus) and f/2.0 aperture. The primary camera is capable of Full HD video recording at 30fps. For selfies, the smartphone gets a 5MP front-facing shooter which the company claims is capable of taking 85-degree wide angle shots.
Besides the inclusion of a fingerprint scanner, the Redmi Note 4 also gets an infrared sensor. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone comes with support for 3G, 4G, GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth, GPS, GLONASS along VoLTE capabilities. Juicing up the smartphone is a 4100 mAh battery. The Redmi Note 4 measures 151x76x8.35mm and weighs in at 175 grams. The smartphone will be available in Gold, Grey, and Silver color options.

As far as pricing goes, the 2GB RAM/16GB storage model has been priced at CNY 899 (approx. Rs 9,000), while the 3GB RAM and 64GB storage variant has been priced at CNY 1,199 (approx. Rs. 12,000).
We expect the Redmi Note 4 to live up to the benchmarks set by its predecessor – the Redmi Note 3, which was undeniably one of the most impressive budget phablets we’ve come across.
