Xiaomi has launched Redmi 3S in India with 4100mAh battery and 2GB RAM starting at Rs. 6,999 in Gold, Dark Gray, Silver color variants. However, the Redmi 3S Prime is available with 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage coupled with a highly sensitive fingerprint sensor capable of ultra-fast unlocking at Rs. 8999.
During the launch event, Hugo Barra elaborated on the total number of Redmi smartphones sold. He also explained the progress the company made in partnership with Andhra Pradesh government by manufacturing the smartphones under “Make in India” initiative.
Barra further added that Redmi Note 3 has been the bestselling smartphone in India with over million units sold in a short span of time. Moreover, the device is also very popular among the young generation in India.
Speaking at the launch event, Barra revealed that Redmi 3s draws inspiration from redmi note 3. Tagged with “Power at last” slogan, the Redmi 3S is 10 percent thinner than the previous Redmi devices.
Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime Specifications
On the specifications front, both Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime features a 5-inch HD IPS display with fingerprint sensor and metal body. The main attraction of Redmi 3S and Prime edition is the integration of 4100mAh battery, which is capable of delivering two days of incredible battery life.
Talking about the internals, the Redmi 3S offers Snapdragon 430 processor coupled with Adreno 505 graphics. The device is available in both 2GB and 3GB RAM variants. The 2GB model named Redmi 3S features 16GB internal storage, while the 3GB Redmi 3S Prime is equipped with 32GB storage capacity.
Equipped with a hybrid dual-SIM slot, the Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime offers a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, HDR mode, 1080p video recording in addition to LED flash. The device features a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper with f/2.2 aperture and FHD recording support.
Loaded with the latest Android v6.0 Marshmallow, the dual-SIM Redmi 3S is integrated with support for both micro-SIM and Nano-SIM slots. Initially, the device will be available with MIUI 7.3 but can be upgraded to MIUI 8 as and when it officially releases on August 15.
With a weight of 144 grams, the Redmi 3S offers support for all major connectivity features such as 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPRS/ EDGE, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth, Glonass, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Micro-USB.
Except RAM, storage capacity and addition of fingerprint sensor, all the features are same for both Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime.

Availability
Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime will be available via flash sale on the official Mi India portal at 12 PM on August 9. The devices will also be available on Flipkart via Flash sale on August 9, 12 PM.
