Xiaomi recently announced the Mi Max phablet in China which is available on sale starting today in China. It is expected that the Chinese manufacturer will bring Mi Max – the 6.44-inch display – smartphone in India by the end of the next month.
Phablets have a narrow window for peeking at the sales chart. With screen size & quality as their USP, Mi Max phablet stands a chance of winning a lot of hearts.
Screen: The 6.44-inch 2K display with sunlight display appears vivid. Xiaomi has tried to satiate the needs of pixel junkies by providing a screen resolution of 1440×2560 pixels which means a decent 459 ppi. A large screen with a high pixel resolution implies more details which are somewhat lacking in other phablets.
Under the hood: Mi Max is apparently bringing along three different processors from QUALCOMM, of course. The 32GB version will support a 3GB RAM and a Snapdragon 650 to run all the processes. And its 64GB version will pack the same RAM but seek help from a different processor i.e. snapdragon 652 chipsets. Also, for the heavy users, we have a 128 gigs version with the Snapdragon 652 ‘processor’ powered by 4GB RAM, which can swallow anything you throw at it. The specs do justify the screen size.
For the camera part, we know that the rear will accommodate a 16 MP shooter with a 2.0 aperture. The exciting part to cover here is the introduction of Xiaomi’s image stabilization concept. Also, camera performance depends on a lot on the software; Running Android 6.0 with MIUI 8 on top of it, Mi Max can surely deliver some decent pictures.
Design: Available in three different colors viz. silver, gold & grey, Xiaomi has subtly tried to ‘up’ the ‘imitation game’. These color options are in demand and with a metal finish on Mi Max, its flat back, and sharp corners will give a sleek finish to the appearance. This formula might make it look a little more manageable compared to the size of an average hand.
Mi Max Price in India
So far, there have been a lot of rumors regarding the launch date and expected price.
Apparently, Xiaomi’s official Twitter handle is continuously updating about the phone specs and hardware. But, they are not revealing the launch date for India.
A lot of web domains are listing info regarding the price as well; Androidpit speculates different prices for each model. The 3GB RAM versions are estimated to be around $250 while the gigantic 128GB, 4GB RAM might sell for approx. $300.
Available from 17th of may in China, the Chinese smartphone makers would not like to delay the launch in India. Phablets with a good display have a good chance of gathering numbers here. Meanwhile, as the comparative affordability works in the favor of the buyer, speculations indicate a launch in the coming month, maybe a little towards the end.
