Reliance LYF Earth 2 smartphone with Retina scanner launched: Price, specs, features

Reliance has released its new smartphone LYF Earth 2 with retina scanner at Rs. 19,999 in India. It will be available in black, gold, green and white color variants.

The new Reliance LYF Earth 2 sports a 13MP front camera with Retina sensor-based biometric identification technology. It also boasts dedicated LED flash with PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) with full HD video recording ability.

The smartphone projects straight light on eyes to trace a standardized movement of the retina. Since the retinal blood vessels can absorb this light, the amount of reflection varies during the scan. This pattern of variations is unique (even twin identical twins don’t share similar pattern), and then this is converted to a code and stored in the smartphone.

Whenever the smartphone owner looks at the screen, the scanner will identify the retina and unlock it.

The rear camera is also 13MP backed by laser auto focus and dual-tone LED flash. Other features of the Earth 2 include a 5.0-inch full HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, 3GB RAM with 32GB ROM and a 2500mAh battery.
