The second fitness tracker from Xiaomi, Mi Band 2, will be up for grabs in China on June 7, as confirmed by the company CEO Jun Lei. The announcement reminds us of his previous statement made earlier this month that the Mi Band 2 will be made official in early June. Meanwhile, there is no official announcement of its release in India.
Rumour mills have been doing around for quite sometimes now about the successor of the first Mi Band. The upcoming device will surely be an incremental upgrade in terms of features. The Mi Band 2 will have a LCD display unlike its predecessor, and also an optical heart rate sensor right at the bottom of the device. As seen in the teaser, the watch boasts a physical button which is anticipated to be used as a toggle between the features and notifications. Display is likely to facilitate users with time, message notification, date, steps count, heart rate and more. It is also expected that Xiaomi will pack with bigger battery with the new band, considering that the display too will consume battery fast.
The Chinese electronics gaint is known to keep the price of its products ridiculously low. The first Mi Band was priced at Rs. 999, and studing its strategy, we can say that the forthcoming band will also be priced somewhere close to Rs. 1,000 only.
Recently, Xiaomi released its first drone called Mi Drone with 4K video recording capabilities at Rs. 25,600 onwards. It has also come up with a health-tracking device called iHealth Box that measures blood pressure and heart beat, and send it over to your phone via Wi-Fi.
