Samsung Gear S3 Release Date

There have been speculations suggesting that Samsung may launch the successor of its popular Gear S2 smartwatch at this year’s IFA. The company has just sent out press invites for the official media event for the announcement of the brand new smartwatch. Even though the invite does not have Samsung Gear S3 mentioned anywhere in it, the overlaying hands of a clock suggest the inevitable. Samsung has scheduled the event on 1st September which is just a day before the official beginning of the IFA.

The Gear S3 is rumored to feature the similar circular design language and rotary bezel of the present Gear S2 smartwatch. The Korean giant is speculated to bring three different models of the upcoming smartwatch which is expected to be named as the Gear S3 Explorer, Gear S3 Frontier, and the Gear S3 Classic. On the contrary, the company’s current smartwatch has two different variants, the normal Gear S2, and a Gear S3 Classic.

Samsung Gear S3 Release Date and Specs

Samsung is presumed to rope in a lot of features in its upcoming wearable aimed at fitness and adventure enthusiasts. The Gear S3 will sport a barometer for measuring the atmospheric pressure which may help in making predictions about weather conditions. An altimeter will be included, making the forthcoming smartwatch capable of detecting the altitude. Samsung’s next smartwatch will come with its GPS chip along with an inbuilt speedometer for effective tracking of the speed and location of its user.

A variant of the Gear S3 is rumored to feature a larger 1.5-inch display, targeted at peoples who found the 1.2-inch display of its predecessor as too tiny. The display of the new generation smartwatch will also be a Super AMOLED display with enhanced sunlight visibility. The screen is also presumed to be much more durable thanks to the brand new Gorilla Glass 5. The upcoming smartwatch is being developed by Samsung with the code name “Solis”.

The next generation Samsung smartwatch will possibly run the Tizen Operating System similar to the current Gear S2. The smart wearable will sport an IPxx certification and will be resistant to water and dust. The cellular variant of the Gear S3 will support 4G LTE networks.

Some rumors suggest that Samsung may unveil the brand new Galaxy Tab S3 along with the latest smartwatch. The present Tab S2 being launched at July in the previous year is more than a year old now. So, we will not be surprised if the company announces the successor of the Tab S2 at the IFA 2016.
