Reliance Jio 4G SIM available for any 4G smartphone from select outlets

Reliance Jio 4G SIM card is available for all users with any smartphone with 4G capability. If you have a 4G enabled smartphone, you can request a free Jio 4G SIM card from ‘select’ Reliance digital stores. The offer is applicable only in select Reliance Digital and Xpress Mini outlets. However, the decision to provide you with a 4G SIM entirely depends on the store owner. If your nearest outlet doesn’t offer any 4G SIM, you need to find any other outlet. The company declined to provide any answer when asked about the current development. We interacted with few people and understood that the SIM cards are now available to all users. We also spotted long queues before few Reliance outlets.

Each 4G SIM Card comes with 90 days of free unlimited 4G data, which is the same as Jio Preview offer. If you have a smartphone with 4G, this is the right time to grab a Reliance Jio SIM card. Moreover, you will also be eligible to get access to Reliance Jio services JioOnDemand.

We contacted a Reliance Digital Store and the officials confirmed that the 4G SIM cards are now available through an open sale without any coupon codes. To obtain a Reliance Jio SIM card, you just need to walk into your nearest store with a copy of an ID proof and a photograph.

If you have a LG or Samsung smartphone, you need to generate a code through the MyJio app. If you have any other brand, you can just walk-in to your nearest outlet and request a 4G SIM. However, you should submit KYC documents for availing the 4G SIM card.

Reliance Jio Lyf Preview

According to a leading tech portal, their team managed to use the Reliance Jio SIM provided with Lyf Water 1 smartphone on iPhone and other 4G handsets. You should note that only those SIM cards which got Jio Lyf Preview extension will be compatible with other smartphones.

Commenting on the development, Telecom Talk disclosed that the Jio SIM card will not work on another Lyf handset, which did not have the preview offer extension. However, those customers who got Lyf connections during the early stage will most likely get the extension soon.

Reliance Jio 4G Launch

With Reliance Jio expected to make a major announcement on August 15, industry analysts are of the opinion that the new move is part of the impending launch of 4G services across India.

Responding to media, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani revealed that the new Jio 4G service has over 15 lakh trial users. He also added that the current trial system will be upgraded to commercial operations in a phased manner by the end of 2016.

The company sources informed us that Jio will have half-million activation outlets including a million recharge outlets when the service is officially launched.

Way to get access to Reliance Jio SIM

As of writing this, the only way to get access to Reliance Jio 4G SIM is by purchasing the Samsung Preview offer. Scheduled to roll out on August 15, the Reliance Jio has already laid four thousand kilometers of optical fiber cables across Goa.

The company will likely charge 2p/sec or 1.20rs/min for voice calls made via Jio mobile, other mobile operators, and landline phones. Moreover, the ID calls will be charged at 5p/sec with SMS rates likely to fetch Re. 1 for every message. Talking about data, the company will charge 1p for per 10KB usage.

To obtain a Reliance Jio SIM, you need to download the Jio application and generate a code. In the meantime, you will get a SIM card directly from a Reliance store. Your SIM card will be verified by calling on 1977. Once you activate the SIM card, you can use it any 4G enabled smartphone as per the applicable rates.
