Reliance Jio 4G tariff plans launch: Key highlights of services coming September 5

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani announced the launch of the much-awaited Reliance Jio 4G services to the nation from September 5 with the base XXS plan costing Rs. 19 for 0.1GB. Moreover, the voice calls will be free, to begin with. Announcing the launch of the Reliance Jio at the company’s AGM, Ambani disclosed that the services will be available for all people from September 5. Moreover, the 4G service will be free for the first 90 days. He said that Reliance Jio 4G service is an effort to fulfill the Digital India initiatives announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Ambani also added that the main goal of the company is to acquire 100 million customers. The company will not charge voice calls on the Jio service. Ambani also said that the data rates will be charged at Rs. 50 per GB or 0.5 paise per MB.

Speaking before a large gathering of shareholders, Ambani also revealed that the wide range of apps will also be available free of cost until the end of 2017. However, he declined to state what will happen to the apps after that.

The Reliance Jio services got rave reviews from various sections of people ever since the company launched the trial run. Initially, the service was limited to employees and for those who purchase a Lyf smartphone. The Reliance Jio 4G service was slowly extended to people who own smartphones manufactured by various companies.

During his one hour long speech, Ambani said that life is going digital and Reliance Jio 4G plans will improve India’s digital ranking. Moreover, data is the oxygen of digital life. Since the demand for data is growing, the company is making a tactical shift from data storage to data abundance.

Reliance Jio 4G Plans

Reliance Jio 4G plans are available in ten different formats starting from the “XXS” and ending with “XXXL”. While the XXS plan costs Rs. 19 with 0.1GB of 4G data, the XXXL will cost Rs. 4,999 with 75GB of unlimited 4G data. Reliance is providing unlimited 4G usage at night forall packages including the base level plan.

The rates have been fixed based on the current market conditions. You will be required to pay Rs. 50 per GB per 5 paise per MB. These rates are the lowest in the world. As far as International calling rates are concerned, Ambani said that Indians will no longer have to turn off data.

Ambani said that the Reliance Jio 4G service has been developed by taking into account the customer preferences. Customers will be charged for only one service – voice or data. He announced that all voice calls will be free with no roaming charges across India.

Reliance Jio 4G Plan for Students

As part of the launch, students will be eligible to avail 25 percent additional data on Jio’s base tariff. If you are a platinum customer, you will get white glove services without any additional charge.

In addition to Reliance Jio 4G, the company also rolled out fibre-to-the-home wireline network. By pumping Rs. 5,000 crore venture capital fund, Reliance will help Indian entrepreneurs to set up their businesses.

Reliance will also launch Jio TV with 300 plus channels. Meanwhile, Jio Cinema will have a library of 6,000 movies and 1,00,000 episodes of TV shows. You will be eligible to access 10 million songs. These apps will be free till the end of December 2017.
