OnePlus recently revealed a buffed up version of OnePlus 3 with some super upgrades; the processor, camera, and the battery. OnePlus 3T comes with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat covered in a nice skin called Oxygen OS. Even after these upgradations, does OnePlus 3T stand any chance against the mighty Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, let’s find out.
OnePlus 3T vs Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: Design
OnePlus kept the OnePlus 3T design same as OnePlus 3, simple and straight with a matte finish at the back and a touch reactive home key with a fingerprint scanner. The chassis is made of aircraft grade aluminum for extra durability and beauty. You’ll get an Alert Slider to put the phone in silent or priority mode apart from the power and volume rocker button.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge derives the same design from Galaxy S6 Edge with a display which is curved to its edges. A home button with a fingerprint sensor and two capacitive touch buttons. The phone is all covered with Gorilla glass four on the back and the front as well. Samsung minimized the camera hump on Galaxy S7 Edge with HR sensor and flash beside the rear camera.
OnePlus 3T vs Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: Display
Both of the smartphones are carrying almost similar display type; OpticAMOLED and SuperAMOLED; OpticAMOLED is SuperAMOLED. OnePlus tweaked this display to add more contrast and color tone for making it more bright, so the visibility in sunlight will get increased.
The display on OnePlus 3T is same as the display on OnePlus 3; 5.5 inches with full HD resolution and 401 ppi pixel density. Whereas Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge sports a 5.5 inches quad HD display with 534 ppi pixel density. Both the displays are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection.
OnePlus 3T vs Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: Hardware
OnePlus 3T comes with a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821 processor which is one of the only upgrades OnePlus has done in this smartphone. It’s a quad-core processor with its two cores running at a frequency of 2.35GHz and other two core at 1.6GHz. The GPU is the latest and same as its predecessor, Adreno 530. It comes with the same amount of memory as in OnePlus 3 (6GB) for fast and smooth multitasking.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge sports an Exynos 8890 octa-core processor with two quad-core chips running at 2.3GHz and 1.6GHz. It runs the latest Mali GPU for its graphics need; the Mali-T880 MP12 GPU. OnePlus 3T vs Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: Camera
OnePlus 3T kept the camera similar as in OnePlus 3; 16 MP shooter with LED flash and PDAF. The aperture size is f/2.0 which is good but not the best. OnePlus doubled the front facing camera and added a 16 MP selfie camera with same aperture size (f/2.0) and video capture capability.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge’s camera scored second best score (88) on DxO Mark. It comes with a 12 MP shooter with f/1.7 aperture size which makes it good for low light conditions and PDAF. The front facing camera is 5 MP with same f/1.7 aperture size and auto HDR. Both of the smartphones features OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and capable of shooting 4K videos.
OnePlus 3T vs Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: Features
OnePlus 3T has 6 GB RAM, the latest processor, latest Android 7.0 Nougat and alert slider in the name of features. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge comes with tons of features like edge to edge curved display which makes the multimedia experience almost bezel-less. Conclusion
If you are a person which needs only performance, no branding or the design then OnePlus 3T is a smartphone which offers the best hardware out there at such a low price.
