Ahead of the IFA 2016 to be held in Berlin, Chinese tech giant Lenovo has announced a budget friendly version of the Moto Z. It is called the Moto Z Play. With the launch also came a new camera Moto Mod in collaboration with Hasselblad. First announced by the company during its Tech World conference last June, the Moto Z series started with two premium devices: The Moto Z and Moto Z Force. The smartphone is said to cost $408 in America and 499 Euros in the European market.

Currently, the Moto Z Force is a device exclusively available with Verizon in the US. Moto Z is a semi-modular series from the Chinese company and has various Mods that can be strapped onto the back of the phone for beefed up functionality. The Moto Z Play is a new one in the series at a separate price range from the company’s usual in its Moto Mods innovation.

The Moto Z Play sports a 5.5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. There is also said to be a dual-SIM option in, along with microSD support. The Moto Z Play has a 16 MP primary camera along with a 5MP secondary camera. The 3510 mAh is larger than the one on the more premium Moto Zs.
Similar to the Moto Z and Moto Z Force, this one has a shatterproof glass protecting the display. The phone also has a Type-C USB connector. The other two phones skipped the 3.5 mm headphone jack, but not this one.
HasselBlad Moto Mod
As far as the Moto Mods are concerned, the new edition is tagged as Hasselblad True Zoom Mod. Lenovo has joined hands with the legendary Swedish camera maker, Hasselblad for this one. The 4.5-45 mm lens with a 10x optical zoom and Xenon flash will allow users to shoot images in the RAW format, a feature that most smartphones don’t have at the moment. However, the optical lens, which Lenovo says helps with the RAW capability and the special shooting mode is not by HasselBlad. The mod will soon be available for $299/€299.
The Mod has a HasselBlad branding on it. Moto Z phones will have an access to the HasselBlad editing software as well. However, the standard Motorola camera app is used when the module is attached to the phone. The HasselBlad Moto Mod can be attached to the rear of the phone through the 16 magnetic pins. The release dates haven’t been announced, yet.
