Although released in October 2015, the Coolpad Note 3 was a mid-range phone we had to compare with the new Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus. With the prices and hardware being a close match, the phones ought to be compared regarding broader specifications.

The Coolpad Note 3 is available online for a purchase price of Rs. 8,999 while the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is priced at Rs. 8,499 on Flipkart.

The Coolpad Note 3 is made of a plastic body with a smooth finish. The phone has a 5.5” display screen, runs of a MediaTek 6753 chip with a Mali-T720MP3 GPU and a 3GB RAM. The phone houses 16GB of internal memory which is expandable up to 64GB with a micro-SD card.

The rear of the phone has a 13MP camera with auto-focus, and the front camera is 5MP. With a 3000 mAh battery, the phone offers dual-SIM support and works on 4G networks. Shipped with Android’s Lollipop v5.1 loaded onto it, the phone is available to purchase in one colour ‘White’.

The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus launched on the 15th of March in India, is compassed with an aluminum body. The phone sports a 5” Full-HD display and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chipset with an Adreno 405 GPU.

With a 2GB RAM, the phone offers 16GB of internal memory which is expandable up to 128GB with a micro-SD card. The Vibe K5 Plus has a 13MP primary camera and a 5MP secondary camera: same as the Coolpad Note 3.

With a 2750 mAh battery, the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus ships with Android’s Lollipop v5.1 loaded onto it. The phone will be available for purchase in the colours of Champagne Gold, Platinum Silver and Graphite Grey. Just as the Coolpad Note 3, the Vibe K5 Plus also offers dual-SIM support as well as compatibility with 4G networks.

With hardware specifications so closely matched, a glance at the physical dimensions of the phones will tell you that the Vibe K5 Plus is sleeker and lighter. The Coolpad Note 3 is 9.3mm in thickness and weighs 160 grams approximately.

The sleek Vibe K5 Plus, on the other hand, is 7.9mm and weighs a whole 13 grams less, that’s 143 grams. If you’re finding it tough to make a call on which phone you’d prefer of the two, just ask yourself whether you would like to have a plastic-bodied smartphone or an aluminum one.
