ArcSystem Works is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the original Double Dragon arcade game. The developer acquired the rights to the Double Dragon series last year, and just announced that Double Dragon 4 is coming to Steam and the PS4.
That said, not many details about the gameplay and storyline have been revealed yet. Though we can expect the company to announce more details in the near future on its official website.
However, from the official YouTube video description, we can catch a little glimpse about the game’s story. The story picks up after the death of Shadow Warriors in Double Dragon II.
However, Double Dragon 4 will get the same arcade-style graphics. And just like in the past, the game is said to come with a single player story mode, along with a two player co-op mode.
Notably, the team behind the upcoming Dragon 4 comprises of the same members behind the original arcade version of the game. It includes producer Takaomi Kaneko, creative director Yoshihisa Kishimoto, character design lead Koji Ogata, along with composer Kazunaka Yamane, and programmer Kei Oyama.
Double Dragon 4 will see a worldwide release next month on January 3o 2017, and will be available on PlayStation 4 and Steam. Apparently, it’ll be the first Double Dragon sequel that’ll be launched since 1990.
