Coolpad Note 3 Lite vs Swipe Elite Plus: Budget smartphones battle it out

Swipe recently launched its new Elite Plus smartphone. The device is very competitively priced at Rs. 6,999 and features an impressive set of specs. We compare it with the Coolpad Note 3 Lite which also comes at a similar price point and is a great budget device in itself.

Both smartphones come with a 5-inch screen. However, the Swipe Elite Plus gets a full HD resolution compared to the 720p HD resolution of the Coolpad Note 3 Lite. The Elite Plus is also equipped with Dragontrail glass protection while the Coolpad Note 3 Lite comes with a Scratch-resistant glass.

The Swipe Elite Plus comes with a 1.5GHz 64-bit Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor bundled with 2GB of RAM. While the Coolpad Note 3 Lite gets a 1.3GHz Quad-Core Mediatek MT6735 processor and 3GB of RAM.

As far as storage goes, the former gets 16GB of built-in storage expandable up to 64GB via microSD slot. The Coolpad Note 3 Elite also gets 16GB of inbuilt storage though only offers 32GB of expandable storage via microSD.

When it comes to the camera, both devices feature a 13MP primary camera unit bundled with LED flash. However, the Swipe Elite Plus gets an 8MP front-facing shooter compared to the 5MP selfie cam of the Coolpad Note 3 Lite.

Both devices come pre-loaded with Android 5.1 Lollipop. However, the Swipe Elite Plus gets its proprietary Freedom OS Android skin compared to the Coolpad Note 3 which also gets its custom CoolUI 6.0 skin.

With a full HD display on board, the Swipe Elite Plus comes with a 3050mAh battery in comparison to the 2500mAh battery of the Coolpad Note 3 Elite.

Both devices come equipped with 4G LTE support and other connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and USB OTG. Though what gives the Coolpad Note 3 a slight edge over the Swipe Elite Plus is the inclusion of a fingerprint scanner.

Both smartphones are competitively priced at Rs. 6,999 and are value-packed devices. Though the Coolpad Note 3 Lite is currently the only phone at this price point to come with a fingerprint scanner, which sets new benchmarks for an entry-level device.

If you’re not much into a fingerprint scanner, the Swipe Elite Plus appears to be a more powerful device. It has a higher resolution full-HD display, a more powerful Snapdragon 615 processor and a bigger battery.
