CES 2017: Xiaomi launches world’s thinnest Mi TV 4 along with Mi Mix white and Mi Router HD

As expected, Xiaomi has officially launched Mi Mix in a new White color variant at the CES 2017. Moreover, the company also launched Mi TV 4 with up to 65-inch display and 4.9mm thickness and Mi Router HD with 8TB storage capacity. During the launch event, Xiaomi Global VP Hugo Barra announced that the new gadgets will be available in China from Q2 2017.

Commenting on the launch, Barra disclosed that the newly introduced Mi TV 4 is the thinnest TV ever released by the company since it is 37 percent thinner than the Mi Mix and 30 percent thinner than the iPhone 7. The Mi TV 4 also integrates the Dolby Atmos audio technology for an impressive cinema-grade experience.

Mi TV 4 specifications

On the specifications front, the Mi TV 4 features a frameless design with 4.9mm thickness and will be available in 40-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch display variants. In a statement released to the press, Xiaomi revealed that the new television is designed in a modular mode, which enables users to replace the motherboard and other internal components at the time of upgrade.

Mi TV 4 features PatchWall AI system with Mi TV Bar

The main attraction of Mi TV 4 is the addition of PatchWall deep learning AI system in addition to Dolby Atmos 3D spherical surround sounding system. Equipped with Mi TV Bar, the new Mi TV 4 features 10 speakers, 2 wireless rear satellite speakers, including a subwoofer. With the help of Mi Port, you will be able to make use of a single cable to establish connectivity with the Mi TV Bar to the display.

That being said, Patchwall is a deep learning artificial intelligence based UI, which is built on top of the Android OS. It will provide automated content recommendations with a large amount of data gathered from movies and TV shows. Furthermore, the Patchwall will also make use of user’s viewing history for a customized experience.

Mi TV 4 pricing

Although Xiaomi hasn’t revealed the exact pricing of the TV, Barra in his speech said that the new TV would be priced under $2000, which is Rs. 135000. Meanwhile, Xiaomi also added that the company would launch a new variant without Dolby Atmos home theater priced under $1500.

Mi Router HD launched with 4×4 multi-user MIMO technology

Along with the Mi TV 4, Xiaomi also announced the launch of Mi Router HD in both 1TB and 8TB storage variants. Talking about the specifications, the Mi Router HD will be equipped with four PCB array antennas with support for up to 2600Mbps transfer speeds.

Technically, the newly launched router is based on 4×4 multi-user MIMO with an integrated surveillance-class hard drive of up to 8TB. The router will have a capability to automatically backup data from all connected gadgets including the ability to sync data with Dropbox.

While the 1TB model will be available under $200 (Rs. 14000), the 8TB variant will be offered for sale under $500 (Rs. 34500). As of this writing, we don’t have any information about when Xiaomi will launch the new Mi TV 4 and Mi Router HD in India. We expect the launch in India to take place by the end of Q3 2017.
