Apple is expected to release the next-gen iPad Mini 5 alongside the iPhone 7 and MacBook Pro 2016. According to Evan Blass, who has a rather credible record with his leaks in the past, suggests that the iPhone 7’s retail release should happen on Friday, September 16. Hence, we can expect the iPad Mini 5 to be launched alongside the iPhone 7 sometime in September, just like last year when the iPhone 6S was unveiled along with the iPad Mini 4.
Other reports suggest that the upcoming iPad Mini will be thinner than last gen’s iPad Mini 4 which was 6.1mm in thickness. The next model will have a few millimeters shaved off as reports reveal it’ll only be 5mm thin. Hence, we expect the removal of the 3.5mm jack from the upcoming iPad Mini model.
Confirmed: Pre-orders start on the 9th. You can extrapolate the launch event date from there. https://t.co/gwoPzIM1dI

Apple iPad Mini 5 Specs
The device is supposed to retain the same 7.9-inch display along with similar 8MP and 1.2MP rear and front cameras of last gen’s iPad Mini 4. However, reports do suggest that the iPad Mini 5 will feature a less-powerful battery compared to last gen’s 5124mAh battery. Though the device will pack the latest A9 processor that is more power-efficient compared to the old A8 processor found in the iPad Mini 4. The new A9 processors also offer a better display resolution and improved graphics.
It is also believed that the 3D Touch pressure-sensitive screen currently deployed by Apple on its iPhone 6s and 6s Plus is ready to make a move onto the iPad lineup, and it’s possible that the iPad Mini 5 will be equipped with this feature.
While reports also indicate the device will run iOS 10 out-of-the-box. With iOS 10, we shall likely see the inclusion of a slew of rumored features such as ‘Dark Mode’. A way of using your iOS device, where iPad Mini 5 could flaunt a dark background as opposed to the default white background found in current generation of iOS devices.
Besides, we can expect a slew of design overhauls with the upcoming iPad Mini 5. The device could rock the Series 7000 aluminum body which is much more robust and lighter.
The iPad Mini 5 is also expected to come in three storage options – which include 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. As far as pricing goes, the device is expected to be released at the same price point. However, the Cupertino giant is expected to drop the 16GB model in favor for the 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage sizes, which would likely increase the price of the base model.
