Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has become the largest sold smartphone, online in the Indian Market according to the latest report by analyst firm IDC. The device has enamored the Indian public right from the day it was launched. In five months, the company has sold 1.75 units of Redmi Note 3. To remind you, Redmi Note 3 was launched in March 2016 in India and was deemed a budget Smartphone with a price tag of Rs. 9,999.
The IDC’s monthly smartphone tracker informs that 8,80,000 units of Redmi Note 3 were sold through online retail outlets by Xiaomi in the second quarter of 2016. It is the highest figure for any smartphone to be shipped in any given quarter in the history of India’s online market.
It is almost twice the units sold to the nearest rival smartphone. It also means that one out of every nine smartphones sold online in the country was Redmi Note 3. However, the IDC has informed that Xiaomi does not figure in the top 5 Smartphone vendors in the second quarter.
In the first two months of its presence in the Indian market, almost 6 lakh units of the Redmi Note 3 were sold. The device has been hailed as one of the best budget devices and has virtually no lag. Xiaomi had made its entry into the Indian market in July 2014 and had since carved a niche for itself by providing high-quality smartphones at very pocket-friendly prices. It has achieved a 72% growth on a year-on-year basis when it comes to Smartphone sales.
The Redmi Note 3 was launched in March 2016 and was the first Smartphone which was started with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor. It had a big battery a 4050mAh as a power source which the manufacturer claimed would last for a full day on a single charge. It had a chic metallic body and a fingerprint sensor also.
The device has been made locally as a part of the “Make in India” initiative launched by the Modi government. The fact that it is locally manufactured has made it possible for the company to cater to the huge demand for the device without any lag.
Xiaomi is going great guns, and recently it announced that it had sold 90,000 units of its recently launched smartphone Redmi 3S Prime during the first sale in just eight minutes on Flipkart, a record of sorts.
