Xiaomi Mi Note 2 to sport iPhone 6s-like 3D Touch feature, might launch next week

If rumors are to be believed, Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is expected to ship with a 5.7-inch 2K curved display alongside iPhone 6s style 3D Touch support. The handset will be launched on September 14. Even though Meizu had announced plans to launch a smartphone with 3D Touch-enabled functionality, the company hasn’t released anything. Hence, it seems that Xiaomi is gearing up to release a new smartphone with pressure sensitive display. According to sources, it could be Xiaomi Mi Note 2 or the Xiaomi Mi5S.

Recently, Xiaomi smartphone users discovered the presence of the 3D Touch feature. It was hidden deep in the system. However, they are unable to use the 3D touch feature since the hardware is not supported. According to industry analysts, this is a clear indication of the Chinese smartphone company making inroads into the 3D Touch display.

According to the latest leak from Weibo, Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is expected to launch on September 14. However, tech analysts are of the opinion that the rumored launch date is not possible since the date is just weeks away.

There are reports that Xiaomi is planning to launch the handset on September 24. But it is highly unlikely since the day is Saturday and the company doesn’t conduct any launch events on weekends.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 specifications

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is expected to feature a 5.7-inch QHD (2560×1440 pixels) 2K curved display, a Snapdragon 821 processor, up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage. According to sources, the smartphone will be available in three variants starting from 32GB. The possibilities are 4GB RAM with 32GB storage, 6GB RAM paired with 64GB and 128GB internal storage respectively. There are rumors that Xiaomi will launch a 32GB storage variant with Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB RAM.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2: Possibility of a dual-camera

The forthcoming handset will be equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera. However, sources close to the company signal a possibility of a dual-camera setup. There are reports about the inclusion of a fingerprint sensor on the front of the handset in addition to 3D ForceTouch display.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2: Stay big with huge battery

The smartphone gets its power from a 4000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. In addition to USB Type-C port, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 also includes standard connectivity options such as dual-SIM card slots, 4G with VoLTE support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2: MIUI 8 by default

Xiaomi is expected to load MIUI 8 into the handset and will run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Recently, images of Mi Note 2 featuring MIUI 8 surfaced on the web. The image displayed apps on the home screen including the touch assistant button with shortcuts for the back, home, recent apps, and screenshot.

As per Weibo, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will cost CNY 2999. However, we can’t really confirm the cost since these are only rumors.
