Xiaomi is gearing up for the launch of its MiMax smartphone in India, on 30 June, alongside MIUI 8. Last week the Mi Community was launched, to allow users to share feedback, participate in contests and attend launch events in India.
With a massive 6.44-inch full-HD (1080×1920) 342ppi display, the phone is supposed to be Xiaomi’s largest, yet. Sporting an all metal body, it will be available in dark gray, Gold and silver. One of the major features of the phone is said to be the fingerprint scanner.
In China the MiMax was launched in three variants: 3GB RAM and 32GB storage with a 1.8GHz hexacore Snapdragon 650 processor, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage Variant with a 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor, and 4GB of RAM variant with 128GB of storage and powered by Snapdragon 652 processor. However, only one variant will be made available in India.
The device is said to sport a 16MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, and a dual SIM.
The MIUI 8 ROM comes with a new interface and features such as password and fingerprint lock on the ‘Notes’ app, new ‘Gallery’ app with filters, photo and video editing tools, advanced calculator etc. According to recent reports, Xiaomi may also feature Android N-like split screen multitasking feature in MIUI 8. Considering the large display, this may not sound very unlikely.
It is also likely that Mi launches the Mi Band 2 fitness tracker at the same event. Stay online as we bring to you all the news and announcements from the event.
