Web Browsing now available on Amazon Fire TV for more than 100 countries

Amazon Fire TV customers now have the option to browse the web via their TV. The Fire TV provides its customers access to a library of more than 500,000 movies as well as TV episodes. Apart from this huge collection, Fire TV users also get thousands of channels, apps along with Alexa skills. To enhance the user experience, Amazon has now introduced Firefox as well as Silk browsers. This will help the user access the World Wide Web along with famous sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Yahoo and many other local as well as international sites and video sharing services.

Marc Whitten, vice president, Amazon Fire TV, and Appstore said,” With full web browsers on Fire TV, our customers’ entertainment and information options are greatly expanded. We want to make it easy for customers to access the Web from the comfort of their couch. We’re excited to bring web browsing to customers on every Fire TV device in every country where they’re sold.”

Commenting on the recent change to enhance user experience via Fire TV, Mark Mayo, Sr. Vice President of Firefox said,” Bringing Firefox to Fire TV is an exciting new way to reach our users and serve up more of the full web to everyone. Firefox has always been about bringing the web directly to people no matter what device they’re using. Starting today, we will be able to expand the already great Fire TV experience by enabling viewers to surface a multitude of web content — including videos — through Firefox.”

Amazon Silk has been modified to provide the users a true television viewing experience straight from the couch. With Silk now available on Fire TV, users can easily visit websites from all over the vast expanse of the web. The Silk comes with bookmarks on the curated home screen page that launches your favorite website in just a click. The Fire TV remote buttons let the user navigate through individual pages or help search any specific content via the Fire TV remote.

With more than tens of millions of monthly active users in the US, UK, Germany, and Japan, Fire TV has topped as the number one selling streaming media player. More than 100 countries, as well as territories, are being updated with the Firefox and Silk in all the Fire TV devices available. In order to start with the browsing, Fire TV users can immediately download the browsers and start browsing through the vast expanse of World Wide Web.
