The Chinese smartphone giant Vivo has now come up with a major announcement for the launch of Vivo Apex 2019. To recall, the Vivo Apex was first showcased as a concept phone, back in MWC 2018. Later, the phone arrived commercially in the form of Vivo NEX but skimped on the half display fingerprint scanner present on the former.
That being said, Vivo lately teased a new launch on January 24 in China. Now, the company has released a poster concerning the launch. As per which, the device pitted for the launch is none other than the 2019 version of the Vivo Apex.
The caption of the poster translates to “A year ago, Vivo APEX portrayed a new world of full screens. A year later, #vivo APEX 2019# evolved again, using technology to wake up to the future. See you on January 24.”
The Vivo Apex 2019 has its model number as EKI1831 and is reportedly codenamed as “The Waterdrop.” Furthermore, it is tipped to come with a full-view display, reminiscent of the Vivo NEX. The device is said to bear a liquid metal chassis that skimps on any physical buttons. Some rumours even suggest the presence of pressure sensitive buttons and advanced gestures for intuitive navigation.
The half-display fingerprint scanner, seen on the Apex’s concept model might re-appear commercially. Nonetheless, the posters and teasers indirectly hint at a new unlocking mechanism. Possibly, this could be a newer version of the In-display fingerprint scanner with improved speed and reliability. Vivo is evidently the pioneer of under-display fingerprint scanning technology in the mobile industry.
As for the specs, it is safe to assume the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC on the Apex. We may also see variants with up to 8GB and 10GB of RAM alongside 256GB of internal storage.
Just a while ago, the company launched the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition that comes with two displays, one at the front and other at the back. The device also gets triple cameras, and the same can be expected from the upcoming Vivo Apex. Keeping that in mind, let’s wait for the launch to reveal exact information about the device. Till then, stay tuned.
