Samsung’s new 2-in-1 Chromebooks running Android OS to take on iPad Pro

Samsung has launched Chromebook Plus and Pro with Android apps support and rotating touch display at the CES 2017. Manufactured in partnership with Google, the next-generation Chromebooks are designed for Google Play. The main highlight of the newly launched Samsung Chromebook series is the default integration of Google Play.

With the help of the new Chromebooks, you will be able to easily install and work with Android apps just like you do with your Android smartphone. Furthermore, Samsung also integrated accelerometers and gyroscope into the new Chromebook. It will enable you to easily interact with motion-controlled Android apps directly from within the Chromebook.

Samsung Chromebook Plus and Pro features a 360-degree rotating LED display

On the specifications front, the Samsung Chromebook Plus and Pro features a 12.3-inch display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection paired with 3:2 aspect ratio. The main USP of the new Samsung Chromebooks is the addition of a 360-degree rotating LED QHD (2400×1600) touch display. Hence, you can make use of the Chromebook both as a laptop or tablet by flipping the Chromebook.

Samsung Chromebook Plus and Pro ships with integrated stylus

For the first time in the history, Samsung has integrated stylus support on the Chromebooks with the digital pen slots on the side. Hence, you will find it useful for jotting notes and other activities.

While the Chromebook Plus is powered by a hexacore OP1 ARM processor, the Chromebook Pro is equipped with a 2.2GHz Intel Core M3 6Y30 processor. Under the hood, the Chromebooks feature 4GB RAM alongside 32GB expandable internal storage, HD quality front-facing snapper in addition to a 39Wh battery.

During the launch event, Samsung added that the new Chromebooks has an ability to deliver up to eight hours of backup time on a single charge. You will be able to charge the Chromebook quickly because of the integrated USB Type-C port.

Samsung has announced that Chromebook Plus will be available from February at $449, which equates to Rs. 30,500. However, you have to wait for more time to know about the pricing and availability of Chromebook Pro. As of this writing, we don’t have any confirmation about the expected launch of the new Chromebooks in India.
