Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus with S Pen support means no Note 8 series?

If rumors are to be believed, Samsung is currently working on to release Galaxy S8 Plus with a 6-inch display. There are widespread rumors that the Galaxy S8 Plus will most likely provide support for an external S-Pen and will be available as an optional accessory.

Till recently, Samsung had reserved the S-pen stylus for its flagship Galaxy Note series. According to a leakster based in China, the Samsung Galaxy S8 series will be the first handset rumored to ship with a stylus. Does it mean ditching of Samsung Galaxy Note 8? Read on to find more.

S-Pen stylus will be an optional accessory

In all probability, the S-Pen stylus for the upcoming Galaxy S8 Plus would be made available as an optional accessory. Hence, you will not be able to find it inside the product package. Regarding pricing, we don’t have any confirmation about the expected cost of the Galaxy S8 Plus and the S-Pen accessory.

Samsung Galaxy S8 expected to ship in two variants

In 2017, Samsung is expected to launch Galaxy S8 handsets in two display sizes. You can expect a 5.1-inch display in the upcoming Galaxy S8 handset. However, its big brother is rumored to ship with a 6-inch display and will be most likely named as Galaxy S8 Plus. The main highlight of both handsets is the addition of dual-edge curved displays.

There are reports that Samsung is currently testing multiple prototypes of its forthcoming flagship handset. However, this is only a speculation and there is no official confirmation. We can confirm the availability of the Galaxy S8 in both 5.1-inch and 6-inch displays. However, it’s too early to comment about the specifications. We expect something will emerge in the coming weeks about the exact specifications of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus.

Samsung Galaxy S8 rumored specifications

Based on rumors, the Galaxy S8 features a 5.7-inch Corning Gorilla Glass 5 display, Snapdragon 830 processor, 8GB RAM, up to 128GB storage, 12MP dual camera, 8MP front camera loaded with Android Nougat. You can expect at least 4000mAh battery with fast charging support.

Even though Samsung has announced the Galaxy S series smartphones in February 2014, there are widespread rumors that the company has pushed the launch date of the Galaxy S8 to April 2017. Previously, there were reports of possible launch during the upcoming MWC 2017. Meanwhile, LG G6, HTC 11 and Xiaomi Mi 6 are expected to launch well ahead of Galaxy S8.

If Samsung decides to add stylus support to Galaxy S8 Plus, you can safely assume that the company will most likely discontinue the flagship Galaxy Note series. That being said, the company had signaled the arrival of the Galaxy Note 8 in 2017. As you can see, there are conflicting reports. Hence, you will have to wait for few more days for the whole picture to become clear.

It remains to be seen as to how consumers welcome Samsung Galaxy Note 8 since the version released in 2017 caused huge chaos among people due to the widespread explosion and burn injuries.
