New Delhi: Taking the “Make in India” initiative, Samsung India has launched its new flagship smartphone – Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ which is completely manufactured in the company’s Noida facility. The premium flagship smartphone will be available for purchase from 28th August, via both online and offline outlets.
Currently, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be available only in 32GB variant in the Indian market while the 64GB variant is yet to be launched in India. The handset comes with a price tag of Rs. 57,900 and will be obtainable in two color variants i.e. Gold and Silver.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ (SM-G928) features a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with a dual edge screen with extended curved displays on the edges. The display will come with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels at 518 ppi.
Powered by a 64-bit Samsung Exynos Octa Core (2.1GHz Quad + 1.5GHz Quad) coupled with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, the Galaxy S6 Edge + offers 32GB of internal storage space with no microSD card slot.
Out-of-the-box, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ runs on Google’s Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system with a new optimized version of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI layer on the top.
The handset sports a 16MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The device is backed by a 3,000 mAh battery that supports fast charging with both wireless and wired charges. Both the cameras comes with a 1.9 aperture and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) features.
In terms of connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ supports 4G LTE Cat.9/ LTE Cat.6, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, MIMO (2×2), NFC, ANT+, GPS/GLONASS, Micro USB 2.0 and a 3.5mm Audio Jack port.

According to the company, the most interesting feature of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is the “Live Broadcast” feature in the camera app, which will enable users to broadcast, share videos with friends from anyplace in the world.
The spokesman also added, “The ‘Broadcast Live’ feature was developed in the Bengaluru Research and Development Center.”
