Rumors of Samsung coming up with a sequel to the Galaxy Grand Prime, the Galaxy Grand Prime 2016 have come to the forefront thanks to the recent sighting of a new device on the Indian export and import site Zauba.
Not surprisingly, details are extremely scarce at the moment though the model number mentioned in the site could be the biggest slip-up. With the new handset being identified by the model number SM-G532F, that in turn bears a striking similarity with the Galaxy Grand Prime that used to be referred to as SM-G531.
Also, from what is evident from the site, there have been 7 units of the device that has been shipped to India. The shipping dates mentioned are July 12th and August 4th. Also, the value of the latest shipment has been pegged at $103 for each unit. Sure that won’t be the ultimate price the handset would be available in but serves to indicate it would be targeted at the mid-range to budget segment at the best.
Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime 2016 Specs: 5-inch display
As of now, the Galaxy Grand Prime is retailing for about around Rs. 13,000 and boasts of specs like 1.2 GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB of internal memory, the latter being further expandable to a maximum 64 GB. It comes with a 5-inch 960 x 540 pixel display and runs Android v4.4 KitKat operating system right out of the box. The Galaxy Grand Prime 2016 is also speculated to have a 5-inch display.
The Galaxy Grand Prime also includes an 8 MP rear facing cam with autofocus and LED flash. Then there is a front facing 5 MP camera as well. Power comes from a 2600mAH battery. Available in both single SIM and dual-SIM configurations, another of the biggest plus of the Galaxy Grand Prime is its slim and svelte looks. Measuring at just 8.6 mm, the device can still match up to the best in class even with dated specs. It’s light on the pocket too what with a weight of just 155 grams.
