Freedom 251, touted as the most affordable smartphone with 4-inch IPS display and 3G support is launched at Rs. 251 in India. Designed and developed by Noida-based Ringing Bells Pvt Ltd, Freedom 251 launched by Sri Manohar Parrikar, Union Defence Minister at an event to be held in New Delhi with Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, MP presiding over the event.
Manufactured under Make in India, Digital India, and Skill India program initiatives, Freedom 251 goes for booking by 6 AM tomorrow (18th February). The new smartphone will apparently disrupt the emerging handset market in the country.
In a statement released to the press, the company revealed that the launch is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of empowering India to the last person, transforming India’s growth story.
For just Rs. 251, you will get a smartphone with 4-inch qHD (960×540 pixels) IPS display, Qualcomm 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD card) in addition to a 1450mAh battery.
While Freedom 251 features a 3.2-megapixel autofocus primary camera, the device also sports a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Even though the front camera is not on par with other smartphones, you can’t complain if you compare the cost of the handset.
On the software front, Freedom 251 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop alongside preloaded apps such as Women Safety, Swachh Bharat, Fisherman, Farmer, Medical, WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube among others. Moreover, it comes with all major connectivity options such as 3G, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
Ringing Bells offers one year warranty and have already established more than 650 service centres across India. Previously, the company entered the Indian market with the launch of Smart 101, priced at Rs. 2999.
