Reliance Jio user gets bill of Rs. 27718, company says it’s fake

A fake Reliance Jio bill has surfaced on the web, which asks the customer named Mrs. Ayunuddin Mondal to pay Rs. 27,718. The render of the bill has sent shock waves among Reliance Jio users. However, the company sources have assured that the bill is indeed fake and bogus.

The bill has been reportedly circulating on social media despite the mobile service provider is offering free services under its Welcome Offer until December 31. However, you should buy the SIM card before December 3 to avail free services. There were reports that Reliance Jio is planning to extend the free Welcome Offer up to March 31.

The fake bill was issued under the name of Mrs. Ayunuddin Mondal, who resides in Kolkata, West Bengal. The bill clearly displays November 20 as the last date of payment. If she fails to pay the amount, she will be charged an additional bill of Rs. 1100. Even though media attempted to reach out to the contact number on the bill, the handset has been switched off.

Commenting on the development, a Reliance Jio spokesperson revealed to BGR that the bill in circulation is not a valid. He said that the company is providing services under Jio welcome offer. If you purchase the SIM before December 3, you will be eligible for free voice and data package till December 31, Reliance added.

After the emergence of the fake bill, several customers have been in touch with Reliance Jio to know about the actual state of affairs. However, the company officials have confirmed that the services will be available for free until December 31, 2016.

Meanwhile, other mobile service operators have complained to TRAI. The main point of providers like Airtel is that Reliance Jio has violated the 90-day limit by Reliance. Recently, TRAI gave a clean chit to Jio’s free voice calling facility and also asked them to end providing free SIM cards on December 3.

With Reliance Jio tipped to make a big announcement on December 28, it remains to be seen as to whether the Welcome Offer will be extended till March 31, 2017.
