Reliance Jio soon to offer free Wifi to Haryana government colleges

Government colleges in Haryana will be getting free Wi-Fi facilities. This was stated by the state Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma. The Department of Higher Education will be setting up Free Reliance Jio Wi-Fi campuses in all Government run colleges in Haryana.

The Minister said that Reliance Jio will be offering 20 MB free usage per day per user for all students and staff for a year in all state-run colleges in Haryana. Reliance Jio has also said that it will block all objectionable websites as per GOI directions.

The minister added that all heads of state-run colleges had been instructed to provide adequate space, security and power for the equipment for providing Wi-Fi to students and staff. Reliance Jio will pay for the electricity used for the equipment.

Jio has been into providing free Wi-Fi hotspot services in towns across India. This includes cities in Gujarat, Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and some select cities in Madhya Pradesh. Jio is also providing free Wi-Fi internet to spectators at six cricket stadium hosting 2016ICC World Twenty20 matches. The services will be available at Wankhede Stadium, Punjab Cricket Association Ground in Mohali, Dharamshala, Chinnaswamy Stadium and Firoz Shah Kotla, Eden Garden.
