Qualcomm has introduced the new Snapdragon 710 processor, with which the company promises to bring high-end features to mid-range handsets. With Snapdragon 710, Qualcomm promises to offer the benefits of improved photography, high-speed connectivity, as well as benefits of AI-accelerated experiences to mid-tier smartphones.
Built with 10nm process technology, the chipset features a multi-core AI Engine promised to offer high performance, efficient power management, along with neural processing abilities usually reserved for Qualcomm’s top-end chipsets. The company further claims as much as 20 percent performance improvement compared to the Snapdragon 660, along with significantly lower power requirements while watching videos and playing games.
“By incorporating key AI capabilities and performance advancements, the Snapdragon 710 is designed to transform our customer products into the ultimate personal assistant, enhancing critical everyday consumer experiences, such as high-end camera features that will benefit from on-device high-speed AI processing, without sacrificing battery life,” said Kedar Kondap, vice president, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
Qualcomm engineered the Snapdragon 710 mobile platform with highly efficient architectures, including the Qualcomm Kryo CPU the new Kryo 360 architecture built on ARM Cortex technology, which is promised to offer up to a 20 percent performance boost, 25 percent faster Web-page loading times, and 15 percent faster app launch times, according to the company.
Besides, it gets the X15 LTE modem or Spectra 250 image processor which offers up to 800 MBps downloads along with improved signal strength.
The Snapdragon 710 also brings a new Qualcomm Spectra 250 ISP that is promised to offer superior low-light photography. The chipset is also equipped to minimize noise, along with support for features such as image stabilization, deep portrait modes, real-time bokeh effects, fast autofocus, and smooth zoom. AI accelerated camera experiences including Face ID, smart photo album and depth of field features are also supported.
The Snapdargon 710 also supports 4K HDR playback, Bluetooth 5.0, and low-latency audio capabilities with the new Qualcomm TrueWireless Stereo Plus and Qualcomm Broadcast Audio technology. The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset is expected to be available in consumer devices by the end of Q2 2018.
