The much anticipated OnePlus 3 is coming to India in June and if rumors are to be believed, the upcoming smartphone will ship with better hardware and design than its previous iterations. The fourth smartphone in the lineup will compete with iPhone SE, Motorola G4, Nexus 6P, LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7. Let’s check what it has to offer:
OnePlus VR headset: The Loop
According to unconfirmed sources, OnePlus is gearing up to launch its upcoming phone in Virtual Reality via the futuristic OnePlus space station named The Loop. As part of the launch, the company is providing around 30,000 units of Loop VR headsets for free; although it is said to be out of stock at the time of writing this piece.
Moreover, the company has informed that people who will watch the keynote in VR will be able to place orders for OnePlus 3 directly from the Loop headset. The company has not yet confirmed its availability for other customers albeit OnePlus is planning to host flash sales once in two weeks.
Responding to media in February, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei revealed that the upcoming flagship OnePlus 3 will feature a new design. Evan Blass, well-known by the Twitter handle @evleaks, showcased an image supposed to be that of the OnePlus 3, which shows a silvery metal build and looks similar to that of HTC 10.
Processor, Battery, Camera, and more
On the specifications front, the OnePlus 3 is expected to feature a 5-inch AMOLED FHD display, Snapdragon 820 processor, NFC, 3000mAh battery loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. While the primary camera will equip with a 16MP sensor with Dual LED Flash, the front-facing snapper is bundled with an 8MP sensor.
The rumors surrounding the web indicate that the upcoming OnePlus 3 will be available in two variants with 4GB and 6GB RAM respectively. However, the 4GB model will have a non-expandable 32GB internal storage, and the higher RAM device will feature 64GB storage. There is also a possibility of integrating an expandable storage, considering the feedback from customers.
We are not expecting any drastic changes to the official name since OnePlus 3 is unofficially circulating all over the web. However, the chances of a new brand name like OnePlus XL can’t be ruled out.
Availability and Price
As of writing this, we don’t have any information about the availability of OnePlus 3 in India, but the smartphone is getting launched on 8th June. Considering the features infused in the device, we expect a higher price tag for OnePlus 3 at around Rs. 30,000. It remains to be seen whether OnePlus provides a free VR headset to customers in India.
