MIUI 9 is now official: New Features, Entitled Devices & Release Date

The weekly and closed beta updates for MIUI China Developer / Global Beta ROM, which was suspended since July 21, 2017, due to the development of MIUI 9, is finally officially confirmed to go live in next few days, confirms the Chinese Multinational Xiaomi. In its today’s official Mi 5X launch event, going on in Beijing, China, Xiaomi Crop (XIAOMZ) revealed the new features, eligible devices, and release date of the latest iteration of its custom user-interface ROM – MIUI 9.

As confirmed by Xiaomi, all updates to the MIUI 9 ROM will slowly go back to the usual condition in August, and the first device to get an update notification for this next-gen ROM will be Mi 6, Mi 5X, and Redmi Note 4X Qualcomm. The roll out of the MIUI 9 China Developer ROM to the devices mentioned above will be starting from August 11th, 2017.

While handsets like Mi Max 64G/128G, Mi MIX, Mi Note 2, Mi 5, Mi 5s Plus, Mi 5s, Mi 5c, Mi Max 32G, Mi Max 2, Mi 4S, Mi Note Pro, Mi 4c, and Redmi 4X will start getting the update from 25th August 2017. Likewise, the public roll out of the MIUI 9 China ROM for all other Xiaomi / Redmi smartphones excluding the Mi 1/1S and Mi 2A will be starting from late September this year.

As revealed by the Beijing- headquartered company in its official event today, the new version of its custom user-interface ROM is based on OS of Android Nougat 7.0 is tagged with three key features like a Smart Assistant which will let you search anything on your phone by swiping to right on the home screen will bring up the search along with app suggestions, news and other customisable widgets. Image search, and Smart app launcher.

The first-of-its-kind Image Search will help users to find pictures and photos featuring what you are looking for, while Smart app launcher will launch apps, by screen contents. Similarly, the major upgrade of MIUI 9 – the Smart assistant will assist users to find everything, from videos to apps, from calculators to calendar. Image search, and Smart app launcher.
