Mercedes-Benz announced sports edition builds of their A-Class, CLA and GLA line of cars in India. The new sports edition cars will be available for a starting price of Rs. 25.95 lakh, Rs. 33.24 lakh, and Rs. 34.23 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively.
Mercedes announced the sports version of their cars in order to commemorate the kick-off of the UEFA Euro Championship that happened a week ago. Mercedes happens to be the official sponsor for the German footballing team, so it’s only natural for the timing to be right.
The Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India made a statement which says that ‘the new Sports versions of their A-Class, CLA and GLA cars bring out sportiness, dynamism, and agility, not only on the road- but off it too.’ The renewed looks of the car are meant to target millennials and racing enthusiasts where the new sports cars are able to suit their preferences and tastes.
The sports versions of the Mercedes A-Class, CLA and GLA come with an AMG body kit, a Mercedes sports edition badge, carbon fiber mirror covers, a black hub and valve cap as well as a stainless steel sports pedal. Apart from a renewed look on the outside along with a few minor added features, the new sports editions of the A-Class, CLA and GLA do not come with any variations under their hood.
The GLA comes along with the same engines with the option of petrol (2-liter turbo petrol 183bhp engine) or diesel (2.1-liter turbo diesel 136bhp engine). The CLA comes with a four- cylinder 2-liter petrol engine with that provides 181bhp and a four-cylinder 2.2-liter diesel engine that provides 134bhp. Lastly, the A-Class continues to feature a 1.6-liter 122bhp petrol engine and a 2.2-liter 136bhp diesel engine.
