Announced earlier in Beijing in April, LeEco launched the latest smartphones – LeEco Le 2 and LeEco Le Max 2 in India on June 8. The Le 2 will now go up for sale sometime in July, while the Le Max 2 will go on sale beginning June 28, 2016. The LeEco Le 2 will be made available to buyers in the country at a price of Rs. 11,999. The two phones are expected to be available on Flipkart as well as on LeMall.
Design:
The LeEco Le 2 comes along with a 5.5” display screen and a full metal uni-body and doesn’t look drastically different from the older release. The size of the phone has been reported to cause some difficulty in using the device with just one hand.
The phone now sports the camera lens right in the center on the rear. Another noticeable difference you will find is that the LeTv branding is now changed to LeEco’s logo, which makes the phone look better.
Display:
The display on the LeEco Le 2 is 5.5” and sports a full-HD resolution. While the screen has been reported to be quite sharp in its resolution, reports have suggested that the screen on the LeEco Le 2 happens to be too reflective which may cause a little hindrance viewing content on your screen in brightly lit environments. Also, the screen on the Le 2 is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Hardware and Specifications:
The LeEco Le 2 comes along with a Snapdragon octa-core MediaTek 652 processor that clocks a speed of 1.8GHz. Processes are powered by a 3GB RAM, along with an Adreno 530 GPU kit that makes for a smooth running of applications. The new device sports 32GB of internal storage memory, which is quite decent considering the price of the device. However, the internal memory is not expandable via a micro-SD slot like with other competitor offerings.
Camera and Battery:
The phone now sports a better 16MP camera on the back that comes with image stabilization, phase detection, and auto-focus. The front houses an 8MP lens. Processes on the phone are powered by a powerful 3000mAh battery and LeEco promises fast-charging which should allow you to juice up the device in no time, but no specific information on how fast this charging is has been divulged.
Operating System:
The LeEco Le 2 will be shipped with Android’s latest Marshmallow 6.0 preloaded onto it. It will also have the company’s proprietary eUI skin running atop of the OS.
When LeEco announced the new phones, they said that the devices would feature the company’s content offerings too. For example: According to the China launch announcement, the phone would come with a multi-stream feature that would allow a user to simultaneously watch 9-live TV channels at the same time. We aren’t sure if this feature will be available in India too.
According to the India announcement of the phone, the company’s partnerships with content providers like YuppTV and ErosNow will allow for multiple camera angle views for sports events, in the same 3×3 layout as offered for TV streaming in China.
Optional Accessories:
The LeEco Le 2 has moved away from the traditional 3.5mm audio jack and has adopted a USB Type-C port that doubles up as a connector for your headphone. The company’s proprietary CDLA (Complete Digital Lossless Audio) Type-C headphones are supported by the phone, but LeEco has not made it clear if these will be bundled along with the new device’s packaging, so it may have to be purchased separately.
