Jugnoo, India’s leading auto-rickshaw aggregator, announced the launch of its auto-rickshaw pooling service called ‘Jugnoo Pool’ on the eve of World Environment Day. This feature allows passengers to share their rides with those going in the same direction.
The concept is basically the same as OLA share, but with three-wheelers. The company has released a statement saying, “This is a humble initiative undertaken by the company in a bid to counter the increasing carbon footprint and traffic situation in various parts of the country. The concept is not only environment-friendly but also comes across as a cost-effective solution for customers.”
The Chandigarh-based company has planned to use the available resources to cater to the high demand for services in places like Gurgaon. The problem of lack of availability of vehicles nearby, as often indicated by the company’s app, will be solved to a certain extent. It not only gives an economic means of transport but also proves to be a threat to eliminate individual unscrupulous players in the market, who have been playing the role of an unnecessary invisible hand to drive the prices up.
The feature is set to be launched across all locations in the country, where the company operates. However, unlike OLA, the company plans to give a fixed discount of 20% per ride (OLA gives ‘up to 50%’), regardless of the fact that they are matched or not.
This new feature acts in favour of all the stakeholders i.e. the company, the drivers, and the passengers; hence, there is an anticipation of a hearty welcome into the market. Founded by Samar Singla and Chinmay Agarwal, the company targets students and working professionals. It has ventured into the industry as one of the leading auto-rickshaw aggregators with 35,000 people transacting per day, at a very nascent stage. It has over 10,000 autos empanelled under the brand at present.
