Huawei Honor 7X looks like a younger sibling of the recently released Honor 9i with almost similar specifications and design. Being the successor of last year’s Honor 6X and looking at the current market trends, Honor 7X is a major upgrade over 6X. The price of the phone is still a mystery but we have the Honor 7X here with us and here are a little hands on about the smartphone.
I have been using the 7X for the last couple of days and here is my initial impression of the smartphone so far. And of course, for the detailed review, you guys have to wait for few more days until the smartphone will be officially launched on the 4th of December in London.
The Honor 7X is following the similar design philosophy as what we have seen with Honor 9i and Honor 8 Pro till now. Honor 7X weighs 165g and features a beautiful prominent display with minimal bezels on the front with single metallic housing on the back. Above the display is the front-facing 8MP camera and the notification LED. Below the display is the Honor branding only (It has on-screen navigation buttons to save the space).
The top edge of the phone has the secondary microphone, left edge has the SIM card tray slot, and right side got the power button and the volume rocker. The micro-USB port, loudspeaker, and the audio port are at the bottom edge. The back of the phone has the dual camera setup with flash, the fingerprint sensor, and the Honor branding.
Honor 7X comes with a 5.93-inches 18:9 FullHD+ (1080 X 2160) display protected by 2.5D glass. Unlike most other edge-to-edge smartphones, 7X’s display isn’t having the rounded corners. So, the smartphone with round edges body features a square edges display, but that’s totally fine!
Honor 7X comes preinstalled with the EMUI 5.1 which is based on the Android 7.0 Nougat. I don’t understand why Honor is not shifting to Android One or Stock Android ROM?
Honor 7X comes with the HiSilicon Kirin 659 octa-core processor with Mali-T830 MP2 GPU for graphics rendering. For multitasking, it comes with 4GB RAM, out of which 2.6 GB stays available when the phone is idle. It comes in 32/64/128 GB internal storage variants which are also expandable upto 128 GB via microSD card slot.
Honor 7X’s major attraction, other than the display, is the dual camera setup at the back of the phone. The dual camera setup includes one 16MP sensor and one 2MP sensor to provide the depth to the pictures. The camera is capable of capturing 1080p HD videos at 30 frames per second, but there is no stabilizing technology used.

My thoughts about the smartphone are pretty positive so far. The Honor 7X is priced at ¥ 1699 for 4GB/64GB variant in China, so it’s expected to be priced around INR 16,000 in India. I will be spending more time with the smartphone in coming days and will let you know all in and outs of this phone in my full review.
