Honor 5C with Kirin 650 processor and fingerprint scanner launched at Rs. 10999

Honor, the sub-division of Huawei, officially launched the Honor 5C today at Rs. 10,999. Customers need to register for the Flipkart exclusive smartphone starting 2PM on June 22, while the first flash sale will be held at 2PM on June 30. Along with Honor 5C, the company has launched the Honor T1 in India.

Touted as a successor to Honor 4C, the new Honor 5C features a metal unibody design coupled with a 64-bit Kirin 650 octa-core processor manufactured using the latest 16nm fabrication process.

Earlier, the smartphone was launched in China and more recently in Europe. However, the model released in Europe lacks a fingerprint scanner. We expect the integration of fingerprint scanner since competing companies like Xiaomi and LeEco have started to embed the sensor into their devices. The main attraction of Honor 5C is that the device comes pre-loaded with Android Marshmallow on top of EMUI 4.1 interface.

On the specifications front, the Honor 5C features a 5.2-inch FHD GFF display, 2GB RAM, 16 GB storage (expandable up to 128GB) armed with a 3,000mAh battery.

While the rear camera is equipped with 13-megapixel sensor paired with f/2.0 aperture, LED Flash, autofocus, and BSI, the front-facing snapper is powered by an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture.

With a thickness of 8.3mm and weight of 156 grams, the Honor 5C offers support for dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS including Micro USB. As per an image provided to the media houses, it is confirmed that Honor 5C ships with Huawei fingerprint technology.

To be available in Gold, Silver and Grey color variants, the Honor 5C is set to compete with the likes of Redmi Note 3, Le 2 and Asus ZenFone Max.

The Honor 5C is currently available through the official’s official online store in Europe. Meanwhile, third party retail companies like Expansys and Clove are currently accepting pre-orders for the Honor 5C. According to sources, Amazon is expected to start the pre-orders in the upcoming days.

In India, Honor recently opened its exclusive online store with wide range of exciting offers. However, the success of Honor 5C will depend on the price tag since premium smartphones with 5.5-inch display available under Rs. 12,000.
